Presently, good news came to our company again. At the 2010 roll management symposium held by Baosteel, Mr.Lao Zhao-li, director of Baosteel Equipment Department and Zou De-cai,deputy general manager of Sinosteel XTMMC, together signed a cooperation letter of intent for localization of baosteel’s 5m heavy plate mill work rolls. Hence, the 5m heavy plate mill work rolls made exclusively by our company have covered all domestic 5m heavy plate rolling lines.

In the period of Eleventh FiveYear Plan, Baosteel and other major domestic steel companieshave built heavy plate mill rolling lines for the expanding 5m heavy plate market and the insufficient domestic production capacity. Yet, the 5m heavy plate mill work rollswere imported due to the restrictions of equipments, technology and other conditions. As the only state-owned enterprise in the Chinese roll-makoing industry, Sinosteel XTMMC, relying on abundant scientific research strength and innovation capability, has been taking part in the global competition with the sense of responsibility and mission on behalf of the state, In July 2008, our company successfully developed China's first pair of 5m heavy plate mill work rolls which showed excellent technical performance and quality in Shasteel’s rolling mill.l  Since then, the home-made large-sized heavy plate mill rolls have been used in Minmetals Yingkou Plate Ltd, Xiangtan-steel and other steel companies.

The fact of signing the letter of intent will realize the localization of rolls for all of 5m heavy plate rolling mill in China. It is of great importance for the similar mill key parts completely out of dependence on imports and for promoting the development of China’s special steel plate manufacturing.
